The Modbod Clothing Company Commits $1,000 to Womens Cougar Rugby Team

The modbod clothing company announced today that it will donate $1,000 to the Womens Cougar Rugby (WCR) Team to support the team's efforts to play in the national championship games. The Womens Cougar Rugby team's mission is to provide students studying at Brigham Young University the opportunity to learn women's coats more about the game of rugby, and engage in memorable experiences. The rugby team is not funded by the university and earns money for travel, uniforms, and other game necessities through fundraising and donations.

This year, the WCR has earned the right to participate in the final four of the national championship. Last year the BYU women's rugby team was just one win away from reaching the final four for the first time in the history of the club. When they learned that playing for the win would have to take place on a Sunday, the team made the decision not to play. Kara Remington, team captain says, "It was heartbreaking. I won't sugarcoat it at all. It was hard." She goes on to say, "We wanted it so badly and felt that we had such a good shot at it." All 35 members of the WCR team came together and made the decision to observe the Sabbath instead of playing for their final four dream. This year, the team qualified again for the final four, but will be able to play in the championship because no games will be played on Sunday.

However, the team found themselves $1,000 short of the ability to travel to Palo Alto, California where the final four games are to be played. The modbod clothing company learned about the situation of the WCR team and stepped up to help the women reach their dream. "We are always looking for ways to empower women and help people to reach their dreams. When we learned about the plight of the Womens Cougar Rugby Team, we knew we had to step in and help," says Amanda Behrbom, co-owner at modbod clothing company. "We are pleased that we are able to help such capable and talented young women play in the final four championship games. We wish them the best of luck."

Remington remarks, "Being able to participate in the national championship means everything to us. As a team we've worked so hard all year and it's rewarding to finally have our hard work pay off. We are proud to be able to represent BYU in the final four and we believe that we will be bringing home a national championship! This is really the chance of a lifetime and we won't take a single second for granted." The team will play Army in the 2nd semifinal of the Women's Collegiate DI at 12:00 noon this Friday, May 13th at Stanford University.
